Greater Manchester Dance Competition

It's 12.30 am, just got back from an inter-university dance competition in Manchester (i didn't compete but i may well do in the two comps next year plus the Roses (Lancs vs York) Tournament). Left at 8.30 this morning after about 3 hours sleep - it was my housemates 21st birthday party last night! - so am knackered. Had lots of fun though. The atmosphere is great what with cheering on your teammates and your favourite couples and all of that! The standard was surprisingly high - although not so surprising when you consider that alumni and anyone afiliated with the uni societies can enter, so a lot of really experienced people dance in the advanced section. This makes it hard for us to get prizes but it's great to watch! Best bits were: watching the Foxtrot from the gallery, the Rock n Roll section ( i wanna learn this so much!!) and Caroline and Tina getting to the beginners Waltz final (fourth place, wooo!). Will post up photos when i get them off friends (forgot camera, d'oh), then you can see some lovely spangly outfits and maybe even our very excellent German dancer Marian dressed as a lovely laydee for the all-men's Rumba.

Will also post photos of the LUBDS Christmas Ball from wednesday night - brilliant.
